August 17 – Everything I'm Proud Of

Write the longest list possible of things that make you proud. Tiny moments count just as much as big achievements.

Okay, here goes nothing. The longest list possible of things I'm proud of, in no particular order:

  1. My heart (how kind it is)

  2. My relationship with God

  3. Doing my PhD

  4. How good of a teacher I am

  5. My childhood friendships

  6. Who I chose to marry

  7. My private Instagram

  8. How forgiving I am

  9. The fact that I was top of my class in my postgraduate MBA, and the Emir awarded me

  10. My engineering background (mainly that I survived KUNIV engineering)

  11. My Birkin

  12. How much I'm reading!

  13. My blog

  14. How well I have been sleeping

  15. My ongoing commitment to being a better human

  16. My fashion sense

  17. How well I am handling my Invisalign journey

  18. That I used to volunteer at so many places: KACCH & BACCH, the Down syndrome community, the orphanage

  19. That I belong to a book club

  20. I have learned to set boundaries

  21. I took a huge career leap!!

  22. I can say no

  23. I love podcasts

  24. I have artistic hobbies

  25. I give people the benefit of the doubt

  26. I put my heart & soul into giving my students the best learning experience

  27. I'm a good daughter

  28. I'm a good wife

  29. I'm a good sister

  30. I'm a good friend

  31. I'm always there for the people I love

  32. I'm nice

  33. I journal

  34. I self-regulate and don't lash out at people

  35. I have and continue to work really hard at speaking nicely to myself

  36. I'm positive & always find reasons to be happy

  37. I practice gratitude often

  38. I'm reading classic literature

  39. I reflect on my behavior a looot

  40. I'm a girl's girl

  41. I'm extremely loyal

  42. I keep secrets

  43. I love complimenting people

  44. Helping others gives me endorphins

  45. In 7th grade I stood up to my sister's bully in defense of her, even though I was really scared

  46. I ran for vice president in 8th grade & won (because of my speech, which was so well written if I do say so myself)

  47. My teachers all love me. From elementary to university to postgraduate, I have always had at least one teacher each year who adored me and LOVED me so fondly

  48. I finally learned how to blowdry my own hair

  49. I'm good at makeup 🥰

  50. I support local businesses

  51. I don't have road rage

  52. I gave a week-long workshop, five hours a day, about marine environmental standards to a group of men who were all older, more experienced and sooo intimidating. But I killed it, and they made me a HUGE trophy and gifted it to me

  53. My love language is sharing my food

  54. I always think of my sisters when I buy something nice for myself and get it for them too

  55. I'm still driving despite the many really scary driving experiences I've had

  56. I'm SUPER creative and my creativity serves me in all aspects of my life

  57. I'm really good at ordering off a menu (my husband calls me the menu-master)

  58. I'm calm in crisis situations

  59. I'm reliable. If I give you my word I will keep it, and I will always show up when you need me

  60. I love writing handwritten letters to the people I love on all occasions

  61. I've always prioritized my family over everything

  62. I'm actively trying to be a better listener

  63. I'm someone who celebrates other people's wins

  64. I'm the snack queen. I can always assemble the perfect snack: for the airport, a charcuterie board, a long car ride

  65. I love spending time with myself. Alone time is my favorite

  66. Lately I started this habit of having phone-free mornings

  67. I don't hold grudges and I don't believe in revenge

  68. I learned how to use R!!! And SPSS! I'm lowkey a data scientist

  69. I have published works and cited myself!

  70. I've come to terms with so much of my childhood trauma

  71. I outgrew who I needed to be to survive
