August 4: Things I Don't Give Myself Credit For

August 4: Things I Don't Give Myself Credit For

List every quiet victory no one applauded but that required courage.

  1. How forgiving I am. I don't know if I've ever felt unconditional love, because I've always felt pressured to meet certain expectations in order to remain loved. Many times, when I faltered or slipped even slightly from my norm, I was reprimanded harshly, the love revoked almost instantly. But I have practiced unconditional love fervently. I love so many people who have hurt me.

  2. My whimsy. I can be anywhere, doing anything, and I will find the magic in it.

  3. My empathy. I'm so sensitive, and I feel for those around me deeply. In a highly clinical, desensitized world, I value that.

  4. Being my own hero.

  5. The time I invest in my personal growth and in my pursuit of being a good human. Sooo much of my energy goes into really understanding my emotions and managing them, so that I don't unleash any negativity onto the world. And I always reflect on my behavior and actions so I can do better.
