Sirens & Silence
لن يصيبنا إلا ما كتب الله لنا

لن يصيبنا إلا ما كتب الله لنا 〰️
There are so many instances where everything is normal, and everyone is acting as usual, but our insides are rioting.
A full-on unrest.
Our hearts race, skipping beats. Our thoughts run in unstoppable loops, and everything is happening so fast inside of us.
Too scared to open your mouth even the tiniest bit, afraid everything will leap out. Scared to look anyone in the eye and have them see the fires burning within.
Your heart, your thoughts, the outpouring rain you’re fighting hard to hold back.
You hold your breath, trapping all that unrest inside.
And most times, you are successful at living amongst the normal, feeling anything but that.
Your internal sirens go unheard, and your panic unnoticed.
Suffocating with a smile.
Now, how do we do the opposite?
How do we find the calm and normal inside of us despite the chaos outside?
When everything becomes unrecognizable, and no one is who they once were.
When it all comes crashing down.
Sirens.
Alarms.
Conflicting news by the minute.
How do we shelter within?
Build unshakable walls.
Insides that don’t fold or bend.
A center made of steel? Concrete?
Unpenetrable.
Unchanging.
Feet solid on the ground.
There’s nothing more powerful, is there?
To have solidarity within.
A version of you that doesn’t betray you.
A home you never lose the address to.
To know you belong to God, and that your fate is decided.
That’s how you continue to live, even amongst the unlivable.
That’s how sirens and silence coexist.
